How to play a Wikipedia race

WikiPar deals two Wikipedia articles. You race from the first to the second using only the links on the pages, then score your clicks against the shortest path.

The rules

A round

  1. Roll a combo, pick a trending pair, or name the start and finish yourself.
  2. Read the opening article and follow links toward the finish.
  3. Log the clicks, or let the counter add one each time the article changes.
  4. Reveal the shortest path when you want the score. It stays hidden until then.

Par and scoring

Par is the click count of the shortest path. Matching it is dead on. Extra clicks are over. A shorter trail than the book is under, and it pays a bonus.

Add players if more than one person is racing the same pair. The counter follows whoever you are scoring for. A host pass is optional. It opens a timed room. It is not required to play.

Questions

What is a Wikipedia race?

A Wikipedia race starts on one article and ends on another. You move only by clicking links in the articles. The player who arrives in the fewest clicks wins.

What counts as a click?

The opening article is free. Each time the article changes, WikiPar adds one click for the player you are counting. Reaching the finish article ends the race.

What is par?

Par is the number of clicks in the shortest path between the two articles. WikiPar counts that path while you play and hides the number until you reveal it. Your score is how your clicks compare with par.

Do I need an account?

No. Roll a pair and play without signing in. Sign in only if you want a host pass, which stays on the Google account that buys it.

WikiPar is not affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation. The articles in the race are Wikipedia's.
